Welcome to the Westerlands!

I have been away from OP for over a year, having gotten distracted by a busy life and work schedule, a need to operate my D&D game efficiently without having to worry about code and having felt overwhelmed by the size of this wiki and all the manual coding it was requiring to update it and make it look pretty.

Then, recently, I realized OP had implemented customizable CSS! I started playing around with it earlier this week, and I think it may just be the time-saving feature I needed to get me back into the OP thing. I’m in the process of drafting the CSS I will use on my pages and have started reformatting where I can. There is, however, a lot still to do. You will definitely notice weird and broken formatting throughout the wiki. My plan is to get that tidied up, but it will take time. In the mean time, enjoy my revitalized world.


The Westerlands represents my first venture in DM-ing. I have decided to indulge my long-time love of world-building by creating a custom game universe based on the core D&D 3.5 model.

The Westerlands consists of a collection of kingdoms and citystates. The world utilizes many of the conventions of high fantasy but is distinguished by the following characteristics:

  1. The plot elements characters and locations in my world are unashamedly inspired (i.e. appropriated, borrowed, stolen and modified) by fantasy literature, pop-culture and any other source that pops into my head. I do not strive to be original, just interesting and exciting for my players.
  2. The world is peppered with relics and ruins of a long lost advanced civilization.
  3. Unique clockwork technology is relatively commonplace within the world thanks to a well established gnomish population characterized by their love for tinkering/engineering.

The Westerlands has been designed as a learning campaign for myself and my players as 4 of 7 PCs in my group are played by newcomers to the D&D game.
